A slight echo of peat, mandarin, buttery raw pastry, red liquorice laces and stewing apples. Turns out I like this one better than the Traditional cask. A very gentle appearance reminiscent of Auchentoshan. Conclusion: It's not a good replacement. Taste: Fresh sunflowers, smoky and peaty with a floral quality.

I'm beginning to become acquainted with the Ardmore distillery a bit of late, well some of its products I should say, and find myself with a bottle of the Legacy. Ardmore Legacy has been chill filtered and it has added colour. I have a feeling it's coming from old casks but what do I know? There's better whisky out there, so I'd say it's a pass. Watery, weak, and the nose has this vinegar note you don't want in a drink. Of course Legacy could be better. But I was surprised to notice that this whisky has some character. Water does not seem to affect the nose. He was an enterprising businessman who placed his distillery beside a railway line, ensuring he could move product with ease. It is full of bold flavours and does not shy away in its final moments.

Whereas The Ardmore featured just once as part of the event last year, now their range has expanded and warrants an exclusive mini-vertical tasting of its own.
